The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads wearing crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—an oval shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). A chain bearing the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called surrounds the shield. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. Above the eagle is the year of minting '•1796•'. Around the circumference, along the rim, the inscription: IСАМОДЕРЖ•ВСЕРОСИСКАЯ (Autocrat of All Russia). The edge is decorated with denticles.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Empress Catherine II. Around the portrait is the inscription: Б•М•ЕКАТЕРИНА•II•IМПЕРАТРИЦА• (By the Grace of God, Catherine II, Empress). In the truncation of the shoulder are the letters 'T.I' (engraver Timofei Ivanov). In the lower part, below the portrait, is the abbreviation 'С П Б' (Saint Petersburg Mint). The edge is decorated with short denticles.
