    In the central part is the monogram of Peter I: four intersecting letters 'P', arranged in a circle with their tops inward and crowned with imperial crowns. Between the letters are four Roman numerals 'I'. Within the monogram, in the center, are the digits of the coin's year of issue: left - '17', right - '23' (1723), separated by the crossing point of the monogram's letters. Along the edge of the coin is a circular inscription: 'MONETA NOVAIA TSENA RUBL' (New Coin Worth One Rouble), divided into four parts by the crowns.

    In the central part is the right-facing profile of Emperor Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. In the sleeve truncation are the letters 'OK', the initials of the medalist Osip Kalashnikov. Around the portrait is a circular inscription: 'PETR A IMPERATOR I SAMODERZHETS VSEROSSIISKII' (Peter the First Emperor and Autocrat of All Russia).
