In the central part — text: GROSZ. Above the inscription — the numeral of the denomination 1. Below the inscription — the year of minting '1836'. In the left part of the reverse is a laurel branch, and in the right an oak branch. Below, the branches are tied together with a ribbon, the knot of which forms a bow.
  • Obverse
In the central part is the State Emblem of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle, the heads of which are crowned with two crowns, a third, larger crown above them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield with St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is on the right). Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. On the wings are depicted the titular coats of arms: on the right — Kazan, Astrakhan and Siberian; on the left — Polish, Tauric and Finnish. In its right talon the eagle holds a sceptre, and in its left — an orb. Under the right talon is the letter 'W', under the left — the letter 'M'. The mint mark of the Warsaw Mint.
