Reverse
The central part features the monogram of Catherine II. Above the monogram is the imperial crown. On both sides of the monogram are the digits of the coin's year of issue: on the left — '17', on the right — '74' (1774). In the left part of the coin, a laurel branch runs along the rim, and in the right part, a palm branch. At the base, the branches are tied with a ribbon, the knot of which forms a bow.
Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by a double-headed eagle — the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Both heads of the eagle bear crowns, and a third, larger crown is between them. On the eagle's chest is the coat of arms of Moscow — an openwork shield with St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is on the right). Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. In the eagle's right talon is a scepter, and below the talon the letter 'E'. In the left talon is an orb, and below the talon the letter 'M'. Together the letters indicate the Yekaterinburg Mint. Below the eagle, on a curved ribbon, is the inscription: FIVE • KOPEKS. The edge is decorated with denticles.
