Reverse

In the central part of the reverse is a relief image of a fragment of the monument to Ivan Fyodorov in Moscow, to the right of it are the dates '1510' and '1583' in two lines. In the lower part, a two-line inscription: 'IVAN FYODOROV', in the upper part, arched: 'RUSSIAN FIRST PRINTER'.

Obverse

In the upper part of the coin is the State Emblem of the USSR, encircled by a ribbon (15 turns). The abbreviation 'USSR' is split into two parts—'CC' is to the left of the emblem, and 'CP' to the right. Below is the denomination of the coin, the digit '1' and below it the word 'RUBLE', at the bottom near the edge is the year of minting '1983'.
