The upper part of the coin features the crown of the Russian Empire. The center is occupied by a four-line inscription: GOSUDAR= STVENNAYA ROSSIYSKAYA MONETA. Below the inscription is the abbreviation "S.P.B." (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the left edge of the coin is a laurel branch, and along the right edge is an oak branch. The bases of the branches are tied together with a ribbon forming a bow. The rim is decorated with prominent denticles pointing inward.

The central part depicts the State Emblem of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle, its heads crowned with two small crowns and a third, larger crown above them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Surrounding the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left — an orb. Below the right talon is the letter "F", below the left — the letter "G". The initials of Mintmaster Fedor Gelman. The central part is enclosed within a circular border. Outside the border, along the edge, are circular inscriptions: above the eagle — "1805", the year of mintage. To the right of the date is a small circle with a raised dot in its center. Around the heraldic eagle is the circular inscription — "POLUPOLTINNIK". The rim is decorated with denticles.
