The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's chest is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. Below the right talon is the letter "Ya", below the left is the letter "A". These are the initials of mintmaster Yakov Afanasyev. Above the eagle is the year of mintage—"1793". Along the arc from right to left around the state emblem is the inscription: ПОЛꙊПОЛТИННИКЪ (HALF POLTINA). The rim is made of denticles.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of the Russian Empress Catherine II. In the lower part, beneath the portrait, is the abbreviation "S P B" (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the edge, following an arc from the lower left, is the inscription: Б•М•ЕКАТЕРИНА•II•IМП•ИСАМОД•ВСЕРОСС• (B•M•CATHERINE•II•EMP•AND AUTOCRAT•OF ALL RUSSIA). The rim consists of denticles.
