    In the central part of the disc, on a mirror-like area shaped like a stadium field and framed by a running track, there is a relief figure of an athlete starting a low-start sprint. Behind him is a contour image of a running athlete. On the upper section of the running track is the text: WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, and on the lower section: 'IN ATHLETICS'. In the background, at the bottom right, is a stylized contour image of the Spasskaya Tower of the Moscow Kremlin. To the right of it is a two-line inscription: '2013 MOSCOW'. On the matte areas at the top and bottom near the edge are small stars.

In the central part of a characteristic dotted circle is a double-headed eagle, and below it is the inscription of the coin's issuer 'BANK OF RUSSIA'.
