Against a stylized background of the Valaam Archipelago islands in Lake Ladoga, in the center is a panorama of the architectural monuments of the Transfiguration Monastery. On the left is the Church of John the Baptist with a bell tower, below it a semicircular inscription: 'PREDTECHENSKY SKIT'. On the right are a bell tower, a church, and a tower, below them a semicircular inscription: 'SKIT OF ALL SAINTS'. At the top is a church with a belfry, below it a semicircular inscription: 'NIKOLSKY SKIT'. At the bottom is a cross, below it a semicircular inscription: 'SKIT OF ALEXANDER SVIRSKY'. Around the circumference, the text: at the top – 'TRANSFIGURATION MONASTERY', at the bottom left – 'VALAAM', at the bottom right – 'FOUNDED in the 14th c.'.
Obverse
In the upper part, along the rim arc, the coin's denomination 'TWENTY FIVE RUBLES' is indicated. Slightly below on the left are the metal designation from Mendeleev's periodic table 'Ag' and the fineness '900'. Below, in the center, is the mintage year '2004'. Below on the right are the weight of the precious metal in pure form '155.50' and the manufacturer's (mint) mark 'SPMD'. In the central part of a characteristic dotted circle is a double-headed eagle, and below it is stamped the name of the coin's issuer 'BANK OF RUSSIA'.
