    In the central part of the disc, on a mirror field, is a relief image of the Church of Peter and Paul; to the left is the Church of St. Barbara the Great Martyr; above them on the left is a two-line inscription: '1150 YEARS'; on the right are the outlines of city buildings; at the top near the rim is the mythical bird Gamayun with outstretched wings; to the left and right near the rim are figures of the Archangel and the warrior Mercury; in the lower part of the disc is the text: SMOLENSK against a background of floral ornament.
