Chekhov, above it — a theater curtain with a stylized image of a seagull, on the right in a room interior — images of a standing girl and a seated man, behind them on the wall — a rifle, below — dates in two lines: '1860' and '1904', at the bottom on a matte field of a sheet of paper — the writer's facsimile signature: 'A. CHEKHOV'.

In the upper part along the rim arc is the coin's denomination 'THREE RUBLES', slightly lower on the left is the metal designation from Mendeleev's periodic table Ag and the fineness 925, below in the center is the mintage year '2010', lower on the right is the weight of the pure precious metal 31.10 and the manufacturer's (mint) mark 'SPMD'. In the central part of a characteristic dotted rim is a double-headed eagle, and below it is stamped the name of the coin's issuer 'BANK OF RUSSIA'.
