Along the arc of the left and upper edge of the coin are the words "GAMES OF THE XXII OLYMPIAD". On the right, separated by a dot, are the word "MOSCOW" and the year of the XXII Olympiad "1980". In the center is a moment from a volleyball game: one player executes an attacking spike while two others set up a block. Behind them is the universal sports complex where the volleyball games were held. In the upper left is the emblem of the XXII Olympic Games. In the lower left is the mint mark "LMD". At the bottom near the rim is the coin's year of mintage "1979".
Obverse
In the upper part of the coin is the State Emblem of the USSR, encircled by a ribbon (15 turns). The abbreviation "USSR" is split into two parts—"SS" is to the left of the emblem, and "SR" is to the right. Below is a double line, beneath which is the denomination of the coin: the numeral "10" and below it the word "RUBLES".
