On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—an oval shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). A chain bearing the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called encircles the shield. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. Above the eagle is the year of minting '•1763•'. Around the circumference, along the rim, the inscription reads: IСАМОДЕРЖ•ВСЕРОСИСКАЯ The edge is decorated with denticles.
