    On the surface of the brilliant mirror field of the coin is a relief image of the monument 'Standing to the Death' on Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd; in the background is a staircase with ruined walls. Along the rim, a circular inscription runs from the bottom up to the right: '70TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEFEAT OF THE GERMAN-FASCIST TROOPS BY THE SOVIET FORCES IN THE BATTLE OF STALINGRAD', separated at the bottom by an asterisk.

    In the upper part along the rim arc is the coin's denomination 'THREE RUBLES'. Slightly below on the left is the metal designation from Mendeleev's periodic table, Ag, and the fineness 925. Below in the center is the year of mintage '2013'. Below on the right is the weight of the precious metal in pure form 31.10 and the manufacturer's (mint) mark 'MMD'. In the central part of a characteristic dotted border is a double-headed eagle, and below it is stamped the name of the coin's issuer 'BANK OF RUSSIA'.
