A third, larger crown is positioned above and between the eagle's heads. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Around the eagle is the text: ВСЕ РОССIИ САМОДЕРЖЕЦЪ (Autocrat of All Russia). Beneath the eagle's tail is the year of mintage—1701 (in Cyrillic letters).
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. Around the portrait is the text: ЦРЬ ПЕТРЪ АЛЕSIЕВИЧ (Tsar Peter Alekseevich).
