In the central part, on a vertical strip of mirror surface within a circle, there is a stylized image of a winged lion and a griffin. In the upper and lower parts of the strip, there is a four-line inscription: "625TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF KULIKOVO". To the left and right of the mirror strip, on a matte surface, are images of the Russian and Horde armies.
Obverse
In the upper part along the rim arc is the coin's denomination "THREE RUBLES". Slightly below on the left is the metal's designation from the periodic table, Ag, and the fineness 925. Below, in the center, is the mintage year "2005". Below on the right is the precious metal weight in pure content 31.10 and the manufacturer's (mint) mark "SPMD". In the central part of a characteristic dotted circle is a double-headed eagle, and below it is the name of the coin's issuer "BANK OF RUSSIA".
