  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—an oval shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a dragon with a long spear (the dragon's head is to the right). A chain bearing the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called encircles the shield. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. Above the eagle is the year of mintage '•1756•'. Around the circumference, along the rim, is the text: MON•TSENA•DVA•RUBLI.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of Russian Empress Elizabeth I Petrovna. An inscription runs in an arc from left to right along the edge: B•M•ELISAVET•I•IMP•ISAMOD•VSEROS. In the lower part, beneath the portrait, is the abbreviation 'S P B' (Saint Petersburg Mint).
