Above is the 'Olympic' swimming pool, below a swimmer, beneath him on the left the emblem of the XXII Olympic Games, on the right the mint mark 'LMD', at the bottom near the rim the coin's year of mintage '1978'.
Obverse
In the upper part of the coin is the State Emblem of the USSR, encircled by a ribbon (15 turns). The abbreviation 'USSR' is split into two parts—'SS' is to the left of the emblem, and 'SR' to the right. Below is a double line, under it the denomination of the coin, the numeral '5' and below the word 'RUBLES'.
