On the lower matte part of the disc — a relief image of the monastery's architectural ensemble, below it, along the rim — a semicircular inscription: 'OPTINA PUSTYN', on the upper mirror part of the disc — an image of the St. John the Baptist Skete of Optina Pustyn surrounded by trees, above it, along the rim — a semicircular inscription: 'HOLY DORMITION MONASTERY'.

In the upper part along the rim arc is the coin's denomination 'TWENTY FIVE RUBLES', slightly lower on the left is the metal's designation from Mendeleev's periodic table Ag and fineness 925, lower in the center is the mintage year '2011', lower on the right is the weight of pure precious metal '155.50' and the manufacturer's (mint) mark 'SPMD'. In the central part of a characteristic dotted circle is a double-headed eagle, and below it is the issuer's name 'BANK OF RUSSIA'.
