    The center is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with wings spread, both heads wearing crowns, with a larger third crown above and between the heads. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Under the right talon is the letter 'M', under the left is the letter 'D'. The mintmark of the Kadashevsky Mint. Around the eagle is the text: МАНЕТА ДОБРАѦ ЦЕНА ПОЛТIНА ҂АѰД (1704). Along the edge of the coin is a twisted dotted rim.

    The center of the obverse is occupied by a left-facing profile of Peter I. Along the edge, surrounding the emperor's profile, is a circular inscription: ЦРЬ • ПЕТРЬ • АЛЕѯIЕВИЧЪ • ВСЕѦ • РОСИI • САМОДЕРЖЕЦЬ • The border resembles a braided rope. The coin's border consists of denticles.
