The center is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle with wings spread, both heads wearing crowns, with a larger third crown above and between the heads. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Around the eagle is the text: МОНЕТА ДОБРАЯ ЦЕНА ПОЛТИНА ҂АѰЕ (1705). The coin's edge has a dotted border.

The center of the obverse is occupied by the left-facing profile of Peter I.
