  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is positioned above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Surrounding the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Below the right talon is the letter 'D', and below the left, the letter 'M'. These are the initials of mintmaster Danila Mochalkin. Above the eagle is the year of mintage—'1770'. Around the eagle, facing inward, is the inscription: МОНЕТА•РУБЛЬ•
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by a right-facing profile portrait of Empress Catherine II. Around the portrait is the inscription: Б•М•ЕКАТЕРИНА•II•IМП•IСАМОД•ВСЕРОС• In the lower section, beneath the portrait, is the abbreviation 'М М Д' (Moscow Mint).
