The central part features the denomination "MONETA POLTINA" in two lines. In the upper part of the coin (above the denomination) is the imperial crown. Below the denomination is a decorative divider consisting of two pointed lines with a dot in a circle between them. Below the divider, the year of mintage "1842" and the abbreviation "S.P.B." (Saint Petersburg Mint) are indicated on two lines. In the left part of the coin, along the edge, is a laurel branch, and in the right part, an oak branch. At the base, the branches are tied together with a ribbon, the knot of which forms an elegant bow. The coin's rim is decorated with raised denticles.
  • Obverse
The central part depicts the State Emblem of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle, its heads crowned with two crowns, and a third, larger crown above them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. On the wings are the titular coats of arms: on the right — Kazan, Astrakhan, and Siberian; on the left — Polish, Taurican, and Finnish. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left — an orb. Under the right talon is the letter "A", under the left — the letter "Ch". The initials of mintmaster Alexei Chadov. The center of the obverse is enclosed in a braided border. In the upper part is an eight-petaled flower, visually indicating the start of the inscription: CHISTAGO SEREBRA 2 ZOLOTNIKA 10 1/2 DOLY (Pure Silver 2 Zolotniks 10 1/2 Dolya). The rim is decorated with denticles pointing towards the center.
