  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads wearing crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called encircles the shield. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. Under the right talon is the letter 'F', under the left 'L'. The initials of mintmaster Fyodor Lesnikov. Above the eagle is the year of mintage—'1773'. Around the eagle, facing inward, is the text: MONETA•POLTINA•
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of Russian Empress Catherine II. On the lower left part of the portrait are the initials 'T•I•', indicating the medallist Timofey Ivanov. At the bottom, below the portrait, is the abbreviation 'S P B' (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the edge, in an arc from the lower left, runs the inscription: B•M•EKATERINA•II•IMP•ISAMOD•VSEROSS•
