The center features the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with wings spread, both heads wearing crowns, with a larger third crown above and between them. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. On the eagle's tail is the letter 'L', the mintmaster's mark of Johann Luvis LANG (Ivan LANG in Russian interpretation). The state emblem is surrounded by the inscription 'MONETA NOVAIA TSENA RUBL' ҂AѰѲI', where the letters '҂AѰѲI' indicate the year of minting — 1719. The rim resembles a twisted cable, with traditional denticles set at an angle.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features a right-facing portrait of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. In the sleeve truncation are the letters 'OK', the initials of the medalist Osip Kalashnikov. A circular inscription runs along the edge: 'TSR' • PETR' • ALEKSIEVICH' • VSELA • ROSII • SAMODERZHETS' • The rim appears as a braided rope.
