Reverse In the central part, an inscription in four lines: CHISTAGO ZOLOTA 1 ZOLOTN=39 DOLY (Pure Gold 1 Zolotnik=39 Dolya). In the upper part of the coin (above the inscription) is the crown of the Russian Empire. Below the inscription runs a decorative line with a rhombus in the middle and the abbreviation S.P.B. (Saint Petersburg Mint). In the left part of the coin, along the edge, is a laurel branch, and in the right part, an oak branch. At the base, the branches are tied together with a ribbon forming a bow. Raised denticles are minted around the entire edge of the coin.
Obverse In the central part is the State Emblem of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with wings spread and lowered. On the eagle's chest is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The heraldic shield, above the eagle's heads, is crowned by the imperial crown. The eagle holds thunderbolts and a torch in its right talon and a laurel wreath in its left, all entwined with the ribbon of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. Below the ribbon are the letters: left "P", right "D". The initials of mintmaster Pavel Danilov. Above the eagle is the denomination designation — the circular inscription "PYAT RUBLEY." (FIVE RUBLES). Below the eagle is the year of minting "1831 GODA." (1831 YEAR). The rim is decorated with short denticles.
