In the upper part of the coin is the State Emblem of the USSR, encircled by a ribbon (15 turns). The abbreviation "USSR" is split into two parts—"SS" is to the left of the emblem, and "SR" is to the right. Below is a double line, under it the denomination of the coin, the numeral "5", and below that the word "RUBLEI" (RUBLES).
