In the central part of the coin is a double-headed eagle—the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Both heads bear crowns, with a larger third crown between them. The eagle's wings are raised and its feathers are spread. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. The state emblem is surrounded by a circular inscription: «• МОНЕТА • НОВАѦ • ЦЕНА • РꙊБЛЬ • ҂АѰѲI •», where the letters «҂АѰѲI» indicate the year of minting—1719. The rim resembles a twisted cable—the traditional denticles are set at an angle to the ground.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by a right-facing profile portrait of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. Around the portrait is the text: ЦРЬ ПЕТРЬ АЛЕѯIЕВИЧЪ ВСЕѦ РОСIИ САМОДЕРЖЕЦЬ. The rim looks like a braided rope.
