The dots denote (duplicate) the coin's denomination. Below the mint date is the letter L, the mintmaster's mark of lohann Luvis LANG (Johann Luvis LANG — in Russian interpretation Ivan LANG). The coin's edge is decorated with a twisted dotted border. - Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle. Both eagle heads bear crowns, and a third, larger crown is between them. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. On the eagle's tail is the letter 'L', the mintmaster's mark of lohann Luvis LANG (Johann Luvis LANG — in Russian interpretation Ivan LANG). The coin's rim consists of denticles.
