Reverse The central part features a three-line inscription: ГРИВЕННИКЪ1718, indicating the denomination and year of minting. Above the inscription are 10 raised counting dots, arranged in two rows of five. The dots denote (duplicate) the coin's denomination. Below the mint date is the letter L, the mintmaster's mark of lohann Luvis LANG (Johann Luvis LANG — in Russian interpretation Ivan LANG). The coin's edge is decorated with a twisted dotted border.
Obverse The center of the obverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle. Both eagle heads bear crowns, and a third, larger crown is between them. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. On the eagle's tail is the letter 'L', the mintmaster's mark of lohann Luvis LANG (Johann Luvis LANG — in Russian interpretation Ivan LANG). The coin's rim consists of denticles.
