The central part of the coin features a double-headed eagle—the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Both heads bear crowns, with a larger third crown between them. The eagle's wings are raised and its feathers are spread. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. The state emblem is surrounded by the circular inscription '• MONETA • NOVAIA • TSENA • RUBL' • ҂AѰK •', where the characters '҂AѰK' indicate the year of coinage—1720. The rim resembles a twisted cable—the traditional denticles are set at an angle to the ground.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. Around the edge, encircling the emperor's profile, is the circular inscription: 'TSR' • PETR' • ALEKSIEVICH • VSELA • ROSII • SAMODERZHETS' • The rim appears as a braided rope.
