  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is positioned above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The shield is surrounded by the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Below the right talon is the letter "Ya", and below the left, the letter "A". These are the initials of mintmaster Yakov Afanasyev. Above the eagle is the year of mintage—"1785". An inscription arches from right to left around the state coat of arms: MONETA • RꙊBL'. The rim is denticulated.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of the Russian Empress Catherine II. On the lower left part of the portrait are the initials "T.I.", indicating the medallist Timofey Ivanov. In the lower section, beneath the portrait, is the abbreviation "S P B" (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the edge, an inscription runs in an arc from the lower left: B•M•EKATERINA•II•IMP•ISAMOD•VSEROSS• (By the Grace of God, Catherine II, Empress and Autocrat of All Russia). The rim is denticulated.
