Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's chest is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Under the right talon is the letter 'E', under the left is the letter 'I'. The initials of mintmaster Egor (Georg) Ivanov. Above the eagle is the year of mintage — '1765'. Around the eagle, facing inward, is the text: МОНЕТА•РУБЛЬ•
Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Empress Catherine II. Around the portrait is the text: Б•М•ЕКАТЕРИНА•II•IМП•IСАМОД•ВСЕРОС• In the truncation of the arm are the letters 'Т.I.', the initials of the engraver Timofei Ivanov. In the lower part, below the portrait, is the abbreviation 'М М Д' (Moscow Mint).
