The center is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with wings spread, both heads wearing crowns, with a larger third crown above and between the heads. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. On the eagle's tail — the letter 'L'. Mintmaster's mark of Johann Luvis LANG (Ivan LANG in Russian interpretation). The state emblem is surrounded by the inscription 'MONETA NOVAIA TSENA RUBL' ҂AѰѲI', where the letters '҂AѰѲI' indicate the year of minting — 1719. The rim resembles a twisted rope — the traditional denticles are angled relative to the ground.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. Around the edge, encircling the emperor's profile, is a circular inscription: TSAR' • PETR' • ALEKSIEVICH • VSELA • ROSII • SAMODERZHETS' • The rim appears as a braided rope.
