In the central part of the coin is a double-headed eagle – the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Both heads bear crowns, with a larger third crown between them. The eagle's wings are raised and its feathers are spread. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. The state emblem is surrounded by the circular inscription '• МОНЕТА • НОВАѦ • ЦЕНА • РꙊБЛЬ • ҂АѰѲI •', where the letters '҂АѰѲI' indicate the year of minting – 1719. The rim resembles a twisted rope – the traditional denticles are set at an angle to the ground.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features a right-facing profile portrait of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. In the sleeve truncation are the letters 'OK', the initials of the medalist Osip Kalashnikov. Around the edge runs the circular inscription: ЦРЬ • ПЕТРЬ • АЛЕѯIЕВИЧЪ • ВСЕѦ • РОСИI • САМОДЕРЖЕЦЬ • The rim appears as a braided rope.
