Reverse
The central part features the denomination 'MONETA POLTINA' in two lines. Above the denomination is the Crown of the Russian Empire. Below the denomination is a decorative divider consisting of two oppositely directed ornamental lines with a small circle between them, featuring a raised dot in its center. Below that is the year of mintage — '1839'. Under the year is the abbreviation 'S.P.B.' (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the left edge of the coin is a laurel branch, and along the right edge is an oak branch. The branches are tied at the base with a ribbon forming a neat bow. The entire edge of the coin is stamped with protruding denticles.
Obverse
The central part depicts the State Emblem of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle, its heads crowned with two coronets, and a third, larger crown above them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Surrounding the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. On the wings are the titular coats of arms: on the right — Kazan, Astrakhan, and Siberian; on the left — Polish, Taurican, and Finnish. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left — an orb. Under the right talon is the letter 'N', under the left — the letter 'G'. The initials of mintmaster Nikolai Grachev. The center of the obverse is enclosed within a braided rim. At the top is an eight-petaled flower, visually indicating the start of the inscription: CHISTAGO SEREBRA 2 ZOLOTNIKA 10 1/2 DOLI. The edge is adorned with denticles pointing towards the center.
