The eagle's heads are crowned with two small crowns, with a third, larger crown above them. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Around the eagle is the text: МОНЕТА НОВАЯ ЦЕНА ПОЛТИНА 1725. The coin's edge has a twisted border.

    The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. Below the portrait is the abbreviation 'SPB' (Saint Petersburg Mint). Around the portrait is the text: ПЕТРЪ I ИМПЕРАТОРЪ IСАМОДЕРЖЕЦЪ ВСЕРОССIИCКIИ. The rim resembles a braided rope.
