  • Reverse
In the upper part of the reverse is the crown of the Russian Empire. Below it, the denomination and monetary unit are indicated on two lines: 20 KOPĒEKЪ. Next is a divider element consisting of two oppositely directed lines with a bordered dot between them. Below the divider is the year of minting "1856". Under the year is the abbreviation "S.P.B." (Saint Petersburg Mint). In the left part of the coin along the edge is a laurel branch, and in the right part an oak branch. At the base, the branches are tied with a ribbon forming a neat bow. Raised denticles are struck around the entire edge of the coin.
  • Obverse
In the central part is depicted the State Emblem of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle, whose heads are crowned with two crowns, a third, larger crown above them. On the eagle's chest is the Moscow coat of arms, within the shield St. George the Victorious on horseback spearing a dragon. Surrounding the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. On the wings are depicted the titular coats of arms: on the right — Kazan, Astrakhan, and Siberian; on the left — Polish, Taurican, and Finnish. In the eagle's talons are a scepter and an orb. Below the talons are the initials "F" and "B", indicating Mintmaster Fedor Blum. The rim is decorated with denticles pointing towards the center.
