In the central part of the coin is a double-headed eagle—the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Both heads bear crowns, a third larger crown is between them. The eagle's wings are raised and the feathers are spread. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. The state emblem is surrounded by a circular inscription: «• MONETA • NOVAIA • TSENA • RUBL' • ҂AѰK •», where the letters «҂AѰK» indicate the year of minting—1720. The rim resembles a twisted rope—the traditional denticles are set at an angle to the ground.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. Around the edge, encircling the Emperor's profile, is a circular inscription: TSAR' • PETR' • ALEKSIEVICH • VSELA • ROSII • SAMODERZHETS' • The rim looks like a braided rope.
