  • Reverse
In the central part, five shields with coats of arms are arranged in the form of a cross. The central shield depicts the Coat of Arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with a scepter and orb. The top shield is the Moscow coat of arms, the bottom one is the coat of arms of the Siberian Tsardom. The left shield is the coat of arms of the Astrakhan Tsardom, the right one is the Kazan Tsardom. The top shield is crowned with an imperial crown, the other three shields are crowned with tsarist crowns. Between the circular coats of arms are four small roses, above them the digits of the year of issue: 1, '7', '6', '4'. Along the edge of the coin's reverse is the inscription: ♚ IMPERIAL ♛ RUSSIAN ♛ COIN•VALUE ♛ FIVE•RUBLES. The crown at the top of the reverse is imperial, the other three crowns are tsarist.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of the Russian Empress Catherine II. Along the edge, in an arc from the lower left, runs the inscription: B•M•CATHERINE•II•EMP•AUTOCRAT•OF ALL RUSSIA. In the lower part, under the portrait, is the abbreviation 'S P B' (Saint Petersburg Mint).
