The upper part of the coin features the crown of the Russian Empire. In the center, the denomination is struck—the number 20. Below the number is the name of the monetary unit 'КОПѢЕКЪ' (KOPEEKS). Below that is a line, under which is the abbreviation 'С.П.Б.' (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the left edge of the coin is a laurel branch, and along the right edge is an oak branch. At the base, the branches are tied together with a ribbon. The edge of the coin is struck with relief denticles.
  • Obverse
The central part depicts the State Emblem of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle with wings spread and lowered. Above the eagle's heads is the imperial crown. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The eagle holds thunderbolts and a torch in its right talon and a laurel wreath in its left, all entwined with the ribbon of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. Below the ribbon are the letters: 'Н' on the left and 'Г' on the right. These are the initials of mintmaster Nikolai Grachev. Below the initials is the year of mintage '1830 ГОДА.' (YEAR). The rim is decorated with short denticles.
