  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire – a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is placed above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow – a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The shield is surrounded by the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. In the eagle's right talon is a scepter, in the left – an orb. Below the right talon is the letter 'I', below the left – the letter 'M'. These are the initials of mintmaster Ivan Markov. Above the eagle is the year of mintage – '1756'. Around the eagle, facing inward, is the text: MONETA•RUBLE•
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of Russian Empress Elizabeth I Petrovna. From left to right along the edge in an arc runs the inscription: B•M•ELISAVET•I•IMP•ISAMOD•VSEROS. In the truncation of the shoulder are the letters 'B.S.', the initials of the engraver Benjamin Scott. In the lower part, beneath the portrait, is the abbreviation 'S P B' (Saint Petersburg Mint).
