Reverse In the central part, an inscription in four lines: PURE GOLD 1 ZOLOTNIK=39 PARTS. In the upper part of the coin (above the inscription) is the crown of the Russian Empire. Below the inscription runs a decorative line with a diamond in the middle and the abbreviation S.P.B. (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the left edge of the coin is a laurel branch, and along the right edge is an oak branch. At the base, the branches are tied together with a ribbon forming a bow. The entire edge of the coin is struck with raised denticles.
Obverse In the central part is the State Emblem of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with wings spread and lowered. On the eagle's chest is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The heraldic shield, above the eagle's heads, is crowned by the imperial crown. The eagle holds thunderbolts and a torch in its right talon and a laurel wreath in its left, all entwined with the ribbon of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. Below the ribbon are the letters: on the left "P", on the right "D". The initials of Mintmaster Pavel Danilov. Above the eagle is the denomination — the circular inscription "FIVE RUBLES.". Below the eagle — the year of minting "1830 YEAR.". The rim is decorated with short denticles.
