  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's chest is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The shield is surrounded by the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. Above the eagle is the mint year — '1740', divided by the large crown. Around the eagle, facing inward, is the text: MONETA POLTINA
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by a right-facing profile portrait of Empress Anna Ioannovna. Around the portrait is the text: B•M•ANNA• IMPERATRITSA•I SAMODERZHITSA VSEROSIISKAIA
