The central part features a four-line inscription: 25 KOPEKS 50 GROSZY. Below the inscription is the year of mintage — 1843. On the left side near the edge of the coin's reverse is a laurel branch, and on the right — an oak branch. At the base, the branches are intertwined with a ribbon, the knot of which forms a bow. The rim is decorated with raised denticles.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by a double-headed eagle — the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Both heads of the eagle wear crowns, and a third, larger crown is between them. All three crowns are connected by a ribbon. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. The coats of arms on the wings: Left wing: Polish, Taurida, Finnish. Right wing: Kazan, Astrakhan, Siberian. In the right talon is a scepter, and above it the letter 'M'. In the left talon is an orb, and above it the letter 'W'. Together the letters indicate the Warsaw Mint. The central part is separated from the rest of the design by a beaded circle. Outside the circle is the text: PURE SILVER 1 ZOLOTNIK 5 1/4 PARTS, divided at the top by an eight-petaled flower. The rim is decorated with short denticles.
