The center is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle with wings spread, both heads wearing crowns, with a third larger crown above and between the heads. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Under the right talon is the letter 'M', under the left, the letter 'D'. The mintmark of the Kadashevsky Mint. Around the eagle, the text: МАНЕТА ДОБРАѦ ЦЕНА РУБЛЬ ҂АѰЕ (1705)
Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the left-facing profile of Peter I. Along the edge, surrounding the emperor's profile, is a circular inscription: ЦРЬ • ПЕТРЬ • АЛЕѯIЕВИЧЪ • ВСЕѦ • РОСИI • САМОДЕРЖЕЦЬ • The rim resembles a braided rope.
