The central part features a four-line inscription: 20КОПѢЕКЪ40GROSZY. Below the inscription is the year of mintage — 1850. Along the edge arc is a wreath of laurel and oak branches, tied at the bottom with a ribbon whose knot forms a double bow. The rim is decorated with denticles pointing towards the center.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the double-headed eagle — the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Both eagle heads bear crowns, and a third, larger crown is between them. All three crowns are connected by a ribbon. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Surrounding the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. The coats of arms on the wings: Left wing: Polish, Taurida, Finnish. Right wing: Kazan, Astrakhan, Siberian. In the right talon is a scepter, and below it the letter 'M'. In the left talon is an orb, and below it the letter 'W'. Together the letters indicate the Warsaw Mint. The rim consists of denticles.
