Reverse The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is positioned above and between them. On the eagle's chest is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The shield is encircled by the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. In the eagle's right talon is a scepter, in the left an orb. Below the right talon is the letter 'M', below the left 'B'. These are the initials of mintmaster Mikhail Bobrovshchikov. Above the eagle is the year of mintage—'1755'. Around the eagle, facing inward, is the text: MONETA•RUBLE•
Obverse The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Empress Elizabeth I (Petrovna). Around the portrait is the text: B•M•ELISAVET•I•IMP: ISAMOD: VSEROS• In the lower part, beneath the portrait, is the abbreviation 'M M D' (Moscow Mint).
