  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads wearing crowns. A third, larger crown is placed above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The shield is surrounded by the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Below the right talon is the letter 'F', and below the left, the letter 'L'. These are the initials of mintmaster Fyodor Lesnikov. Above the eagle is the year of mintage—'1773'. Around the state emblem, following the curve from right to left, is the inscription: МОНЕТА • РꙊБЛЬ. The edge is toothed.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of Russian Empress Catherine II. Along the edge, following the curve from the lower left, is the inscription: Б•М•ЕКАТЕРИНА•II•IМП•IСАМОД•ВСЕРОС. On the sleeve's cuff are the letters 'T.И.', (engraver Timofey Ivanov). In the lower part, beneath the portrait, is the abbreviation 'С П Б' (Saint Petersburg Mint). The edge is decorated with short teeth.
