  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire – a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is positioned above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow – a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The shield is encircled by the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. Below the right talon is the letter 'Ya', below the left is 'Ch'. These are the initials of mintmaster Yakov Chernyshev. Above the eagle is the year of mintage – '1773'. An inscription arches from right to left around the state emblem: MONETA • RꙊBL'. The edge is reeded.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features a right-facing profile portrait of the Russian Empress Catherine II. Along the edge, an inscription arches from the lower left: B•M•EKATERINA•II•IMP•ISAMOD•VSEROS. On the truncation of the sleeve are the letters 'T.I.', (engraver Timofey Ivanov). In the lower part, beneath the portrait, is the abbreviation 'S P B' (Saint Petersburg Mint). The edge is decorated with short denticles.
