  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire – a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is placed above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow – a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). A chain with the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called surrounds the shield. The eagle holds a scepter in its right talon and an orb in its left. Above the eagle is the year of mintage – '1742'. Around the eagle, facing inward, is the text: MONETA•RUBL•
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of Russian Empress Elizabeth I Petrovna. An inscription runs along the edge from left to right: B•M•ELISAVET•I•IMP: ISAMOD: VSEROS: In the lower part, beneath the portrait, is the abbreviation 'S P B' (Saint Petersburg Mint).
